Michele Connell is a partner in the global corporate practice and the managing partner of the Cleveland office of Squire Patton Boggs, an international law firm with over 1,500 attorneys. In her practice, Michele advises the boards of directors of public and private companies on a variety of matters including strategic transactions, executive compensation and employment practices and governance and compliance trends. Michele works with C-suite executives including chief executive officers, chief financial officers, general counsels and human resource leads to create customized and practical solutions to securities compliance and executive employment matters.
Michele has particular expertise in negotiating and completing international mergers and acquisitions. She routinely manages teams of professionals across the globe to bring value to her clients’ bottom lines. Michele has completed transactions in more than 25 countries and is fluent in Spanish.
Before attending law school, Michele was a foreign service officer with the US Department of State, serving as a diplomat in Warsaw, Poland and Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Michele received the Meritorious Honor Award from the US government for her service.
Michele is recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer, a distinction honoring the top lawyers in the state, and has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Latin America the last two years by the International Financial Law Review’s Energy and Infrastructure: Latin America Guide.
Michele serves on the board of directors of University Circle Inc. and is a member of United Way of Greater Cleveland’s Women’s Leadership Council. Michele serves as trustee and secretary for a family foundation and on the board of directors and strategic planning committee of Towards Employment, an organization that empowers and trains individuals to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency through employment.
