Board Institute
The annual Board Institute is a key way in which DirectWomen fulfills its mission.
Nearly 40% of DirectWomen alumnae have been elected to serve on at least one corporate board, with alumni serving on over 220 total corporate boards, since the organization’s inception in 2007.
The application for the 2026 Board Institute is now closed. Please email yechevarria@directwomen.org if you would like to be notified when the application for 2027 opens.
More than 300 lawyers have participated in the Board Institute over the past 18 years and provide a rich pool of director candidates. Past Board Institute classes have been comprised of General Counsel of Fortune 500 companies, partners at top law firms, and leading lawyers from government and academia. These distinguished lawyers represent a wide range of business knowledge and experience in their industries, which include finance, energy, retail, media, and pharmaceuticals, among others.

Kathleen Wilson-Thompson
Ms. Wilson-Thompson is the founder and principal of KWT, LLC, a human capital management executive advisory firm with a client base of global Fortune 500 companies.
Mary J. Dent
Mary is an experienced executive and public company Board member who has spent more than 30 years in the financial services and technology sectors, working with companies ranging in size from early stage startups to large, publicly traded global enterprises.
Linda Addison
Linda Addison is an experienced independent director and chief executive, currently building out her board portfolio with private and PE-backed companies. She is Lead Independent Director of Globe Life Inc.
