Jana serves on the Board of Directors of Invitation Homes, Inc. (NYSE: INVH), a REIT and the nation’s largest single-family home rental company, operating 80,000 homes across 17 markets. A member of both the audit committee and the compensation committee, Jana is adept at navigating financial reporting, risk management oversight, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles, talent management, incentive compensation and the many other challenges facing Boards in today’s fast-moving and fluid business environment.
A senior partner at Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, Jana is also considered one of the most accomplished and influential practitioners in real estate law. Jana has spent her career advising leading financial institutions and insurance companies on highly sophisticated tax advantaged and social investing involving billions of dollars of risk. Jana is widely recognized as a foremost expert in affordable multi-family and senior housing, and community development.
In addition to being a real estate lawyer and a public company director, Jana is an entrepreneur. As CEO of Lexington, Kentucky–based Henley Farms, Inc., her family’s thoroughbred-breeding business, she oversees bloodstock, investments and sales.
Jana is also an impassioned advocate for women. A trailblazer, Jana was the first woman appointed to the Dentons’ Global Board and the first Global Vice Chair appointed from the U.S. region. In January of 2020, Jana assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Advisors of Catalyst, Inc.
Equally committed to serving her community. Jana is a past Chairman of the Board of Thresholds, Illinois’ oldest and largest provider of supportive services and housing for individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
Jana is a graduate of The University of Chicago Law School and Northwestern University. She also attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business – Director’s Consortium and is an alumna of DirectWomen. She is the mother of two grown daughters and lives in Chicago and Kentucky with her husband, three dogs, four barn cats and too many horses.
