Melanie Trent

Melanie Trent is an experienced senior executive who has worked extensively in the energy industry both in oilfield services and power. 

Ms. Trent serves on the Board of Directors of Diamondback Energy, Inc. an independent oil and natural gas company (NASDAQ: FANG),  focused on the acquisition, development, exploration and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas.  She also serves on the Audit, Compensation and Nominating Committees of the Board. 

Ms. Trent serves on the Board of Arcosa, Inc. (NYSE:ACA), a company focused on construction, energy and transportation products and services.  Arcosa was spun-off from Trinity Industries (NYSE:TRN) in November 2018.  She also serves on the Audit Committee and the Corporate Governance and Directors Nominating Committee. 

Ms. Trent also serves on the Board of Frank’s International N.V. (NYSE:FI), a global oil services company that provides a broad and comprehensive range of highly engineered tubular running services, tubular fabrication, and specialty well construction and well intervention solutions with a focus on complex and technically demanding wells.  She also serves on the Audit Committee. 

As Executive Vice President of Rowan Companies plc (NYSE:RDC, a global offshore drilling contractor active in the Middle East, United Kingdom, Norway,  Gulf of Mexico and Trinidad), Ms. Trent used her wealth of experience as a member of the Company’s senior executive leadership team, evaluating and determining corporate strategy, mergers, acquisitions and joint venture opportunities, and other business initiatives. She was a trusted advisor to the Company’s Board of Directors, and presented to and participated in Board and Board committee meetings for over 11 years.

Ms. Trent served as one of four Executive Vice Presidents of Rowan, and was responsible for several functions including information technology, human resources, external and internal communications, legal and compliance.  She also has significant expertise in executive compensation, corporate governance, shareholder relations, and enterprise risk management. 

Prior to joining Rowan Companies, Ms. Trent served as Vice President of Investor Relations and Senior Aide to the CEO of Reliant Energy Incorporated, Division Counsel of Compaq Computer Corporation, and an associate in the corporate securities practice of Andrews Kurth LLP.

Ms. Trent currently serves on the Board of YES Prep Public Schools (an open enrollment public charter school serving students in Houston’s most underserved communities).  She previously served on the Board of New Hope Housing, Inc., on the Audit Committee and Compensation Committee of the Memorial Hermann Hospital System, and on the Board and Executive Committee of Hermann Park Conservancy. 

Ms. Trent’s has been named to the National Diversity Council Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Oil and Gas (2015 and 2017).

Ms. Trent received a bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and a juris doctorate from Georgetown University (with honors), and has two children (Ellie, 21 years old, and Jack, 18 years old).
