Laura Stein

Laura Stein currently serves on the Board of Directors of Franklin Resources, Inc. She also serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of The Clorox Company, with responsibility for global legal, compliance, ethics, internal audit, corporate communications, risk, crisis management and corporate social responsibility matters. She leads Clorox’s Support, Heart and Opportunity for Women (SHOW) group.

Ms. Stein’s previous board service includes close to five years on the Board of Nash Finch Company. Ms. Stein also previously served for five years as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of H.J. Heinz Company, where she was President of the Global Organization for the Advancement of Leadership for Women and a director of the H.J. Heinz Company Foundation, among other responsibilities. Ms. Stein started her legal career as an associate at Morrison & Foerster LLP.

Ms. Stein is Vice-Chair and serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Among other professional endeavors, she chairs the ABA Asia Rule of Law Initiative, co-chairs the ABA Section of Business Law Committee of Corporate General Counsel, co-chairs the Corporate Pro Bono Advisory Board and was previously Chair of the ABA Commission on Domestic Violence. Previously, she was Vice-Chair of the Board of East Bay Community Law Center, a director of Global Education Partnership and of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, and a member of the Client Advisory Council of Lex Mundi global association of law firms.

Ms. Stein has been awarded numerous accolades, including being named by Harvard Law Bulletin as one of 50 alumnae “who have used their law degrees to take them to extraordinary places.”

Ms. Stein earned her B.A. and M.A. from Dartmouth College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
