Patricia A. King served on the Board of Directors of Golden West Financial Corporation from 1994 until October 1, 2006, when Wachovia Corporation acquired Golden West. Ms. King is the Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Law, Medicine, Ethics and Public Policy at Georgetown University Law Center and an adjunct professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, School of Hygiene and Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. Ms. King is a fellow of Harvard College widely known as the Harvard Corporation, the governing board with primary responsibility for Harvard University. Additionally, Ms. King has served as a director of Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., since 2001. Ms. King has also served as Vice-Chair of the Board of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation since 1999 and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Wheaton College since 2000. In the past, Ms. King has served on the boards of the American Society of Law and Medicine and the Russell Sage Foundation.

Ms. King’s professional experience before joining the Georgetown Law Center faculty in 1973 was primarily in the civil rights field; she was the Deputy Director of the Office of Civil Rights and Special Assistant to the Chairman of the EEOC. She also served as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division of the Department of Justice.

Ms. King holds a B.A. from Wheaton College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
