Rosemary T. Berkery is Vice Chairman of UBS Wealth Management Americas (WMA) and Chairman of UBS Bank USA (BUSA). With approximately 7,000 of the most productive Advisors in the industry and more than $950 billion in invested assets, WMA provides tailored investment solutions and services to high net worth and ultra high net worth clients. As Chair of BUSA, an FDIC-insured bank with more than $43 billion in deposits, Ms. Berkery leads the offering of BUSA’s banking and lending capabilities to WMA’s clients. Today, the Banking business encompasses securities-backed lending, residential mortgages, tailored lending, accounts and credit cards.
Prior to joining UBS, Ms. Berkery had a 25-year career at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. during which she held a variety of executive leadership positions, including most recently Vice Chair, Executive Vice President and General Counsel. In this role, she served as an advisor to Merrill Lynch’s Board of Directors, Chairman and CEO, and Executive Management Team, and also managed the firm’s global legal and compliance departments, comprised of 950 professionals in 20 countries. Prior to becoming Vice Chair, Ms. Berkery was Head of the firm’s U.S. Private Client Marketing and Investment Products Group and, before that, was Co-Head of the Global Securities Research and Economics Group.
Ms. Berkery began her career as a lawyer in the corporate practice at Shearman & Sterling, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and securities law. She received her B.A. (magna cum laude) from the College of Mount Saint Vincent and her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where she was an Editor of the school’s Law Review. Among her philanthropic activities, Ms. Berkery serves on the Boards of Trustees of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, the School of American Ballet, and on the Board of Advisors of Georgetown College.
