Megan is a strategic business advisor, nuanced risk leader, and multi-corporate function C-suite expert with experience in publicly traded, privately held, and family-controlled global companies in the manufacturing, consumer goods, hospitality, agriculture, food, ingredients, and commodities industries.
Megan serves as the Chief Legal Officer for Kohler Co., a $10B manufacturing and hospitality company based in Kohler, Wisconsin. The 150-plus year-old Kohler Co., listed as the 51st largest private company in America by Forbes, manufactures and markets bath products, kitchen products, furniture and accessories, and offers luxury hospitality experiences at hotels, golf courses, and spas around the world. Kohler Co. employes more than 30,000 employees globally, with over 55 manufacturing sites across the globe. Megan leads Kohler Co.’s global Legal, Compliance & Ethics, Government Affairs, Internal Audit, and Security functions.
Prior to joining Kohler in 2024, Megan served as the Chief Legal & External Affairs Officer and Corporate Secretary for Scoular. Scoular is a privately held $10B agribusiness company that buys, sells, stores, handles, and processes grain and ingredients by leveraging international trade and transportation. With more than 120 offices and facilities in North America and Asia, Scoular provides solutions to farmers, grain processors, renewable energy producers, and manufacturers of animal feed, aquafeed, and pet food, as well as food, beverages, and supplements.
In addition to her executive roles, Megan served as a member of Scoular’s Board of Directors from 2021-24. She also currently serves as an independent director on the Board for Yakima Chief Hops, North America’s largest hops supplier to brewers across the globe (Compensation and Risk Committee member).
As a member of Kohler’s executive leadership team, Megan is actively engaged in all aspects of the company’s many businesses worldwide, including developing and implementing strategic initiatives through mergers and acquisitions; global expansion planning; governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) and enterprise risk management (ERM) programs. She has a deep understanding of how to conduct business and grow companies in geographies around the world, while also being known for her sophisticated leadership in bet-the-company crisis management situations.
In the fifteen years preceding her joining the leadership team at Scoular, Megan was an associate and partner with an Am Law 100 law firm in its Food & Agribusiness and Hospitality units focusing on compliance, labor and employment, and significant litigation matters, in addition to serving as the Vice President & Chief Counsel – Employment Law and Compliance at Conagra Brands for seven years, then a publicly traded, $20B consumer packaged food company with 25,000-plus union and non-union employees.
An active member of both the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and the Private Directors Association, Megan has been certified as a Governance Fellow by the NACD. In addition to her roles as a for-profit company director, she serves on the Board of Trustees for the Brownell Talbot College Preparatory School (Board Secretary and Development Committee Chair) and The Scoular Foundation. She also serves on the Boards of Directors for the non-profits Youth Emergency Services and the Women’s Fund of Omaha.
Megan’s passion in her professional life is bringing solution-oriented clarity to complexity, in partnership with collaborative teams of diverse professionals, to deliver significant impact for the organizations she serves. Megan also enjoys mentoring emerging leaders on her team, in other parts of her company, and in her community, with a brand as a culture creator in the many organizations in which she leads. Pro bono work on behalf of women and children nationally, and in the Omaha community, is also a focus for Megan in her personal investment time.
Megan graduated from the University of Missouri and Boston College Law School. She holds a certificate in Human Resources Management from Cornell University and attended Northwestern University’s Finance for Executives program. She is currently pursuing a certificate from the Executive Program in Social Impact Strategy from the University of Pennsylvania.
