Cory Shade is a private and public board member expert in driving growth and making companies “public” ready to maximize exit value.

Cory is an outcome-minded business strategist with a growth mindset, superb transaction experience, and best practices for mitigating global and domestic risk. She served as an Audit Committee member for the GSE publicly-traded Student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae). She was an independent director for the $60MM+ Oakland Park, FL Pension Fund Board and for Tenet Healthcare’s North Ridge Hospital (Ft. Lauderdale FL) through its sale to the Holy Cross hospital system. She has served on the boards of over 20 global and domestic corporate subsidiaries and has in-depth experience with Executive Compensation, Governance, and Audit committees.

Cory’s board and corporate experiences are multi-faceted. She has a strong track record in: corporate transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, carve outs, and joint ventures; global business with in-country experience in Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Balkans, EU and the UK; and corporate finance from debt and equity financing structures to international tax management.

Cory also brings deep experience in building, acquiring, and protecting brands and other forms of intellectual property. She was integral to several
successful enterprise-wide digital transformations and has in-depth experience in cybersecurity strategy and execution. She has been heavily involved in all aspects of activist investor defense.

Most recently, Cory was Chief Legal Officer for Apple Leisure Group (ALG), the travel and leisure management group owned by KKR and KSL Capital
Partners and recently acquired by Hyatt Hotels Corporation (H). Previously, she was EVP, General Counsel & Secretary for Perry Ellis International, Inc. (NASDAQ). Prior, Cory was General Counsel for several global companies including BG Investments and FirstCom Corporation (NASDAQ), where she advised the company through its merger with AT&T Latin America.

Cory led the Diversity Advisory Committee for ALG, was Board Chairman for the Diversity Advisory Council of Broward County, FL, and was a board member of the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s (Prospanica) and the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) for South Florida. She is a graduate of the Direct Women’s Annual Board Institute.

Cory holds a JD and MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and a BA from George Washington University. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
