Class of 2019
Diane Honda is a highly accomplished senior executive with extensive experience successfully partnering with company leadership and boards in the areas of strategy development and execution, transformative business initiatives, cybersecurity and advanced technology, and operational excellence. Ms. Honda started her career as a software engineer and progressively expanded her breadth of expertise to include business operations, human resources, legal and compliance management. As a senior executive, legal advisor or board member, Ms. Honda is known for being a creative, proactive and outcome-oriented leader.
Ms. Honda currently serves as the Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Barracuda Networks, Inc., a leading global provider of email, network and data security and recovery solutions, She is responsible for leading the company’s Legal and Human Resources departments, and is a trusted advisor to the CEO, executive team, and Board. Ms. Honda provides thought leadership and guidance on legal and compliance matters, operational and business risk, mergers and acquisitions, cybersecurity and data privacy, corporate culture, benefits and compensation, succession planning, and ethics and corporate governance. Her legal, technical, and operational expertise contributed to Barracuda Networks’ successful IPO and growth as a public company. Most recently, Ms. Honda’s expertise was instrumental in completing the acquisition of Barracuda by a private equity firm.
In her role as Corporate Secretary, Ms. Honda provides guidance on board restructuring, activist shareholders, and corporate governance and has expertise in the areas of employee and public relations, crisis management, and public company compliance.
Prior to joining Barracuda, Ms. Honda gained broad business acumen from her roles in leading technical and business operations organizations in Fortune 50, private, and mid-size public companies, in the areas of software engineering, quality assurance, information systems, human resources, channel marketing, financial services, and real estate.
Ms. Honda is active in her community and is a member of several educational and non-profit Boards. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Java Joy, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meaningful employment and transformational experiences to people with disabilities. In addition, she is an elected Trustee on the Governing Board of the Las Lomitas School District in Menlo Park, CA, and previously served as its President and Clerk. Ms. Honda collaborates with District leadership on financial, labor, and safety matters. Under her guidance, the Governing Board successfully raised $130M in public bonds to finance significant improvements and modernization to the school’s technology, infrastructure, and facilities.
Additionally, Ms. Honda previously served on the Board, Executive Committee, and Audit Committee of the Las Lomitas Educational Foundation, a non-profit organization which raises over $2M annually to support high quality public education. Ms. Honda established the necessary
financial and business controls to successfully complete the Foundation’s first external financial audit. Ms. Honda is a valued Board member, with the ability to communicate and work effectively with all constituents and levels of the highly diverse organization.
An entrepreneur for the last 10 years, Ms. Honda has owned and managed the financial and legal aspects of a retail business located in California, with growing revenue in excess of $5M annually.
Ms. Honda holds a Juris doctorate, from Santa Clara University School of Law. and Bachelor of Science degrees in Applied Math/Computer Science and Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon and leadership development and strategic marketing program acknowledgements from the University of Michigan and Harvard Business School.
In 2019, Ms. Honda was recognized as one of the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 100 Women of Influence. She also received the General Counsel Impact Award from The Recorder, an ALM publication, in 2013 for her leadership and guidance on Barracuda Networks’ IPO.
Ms. Honda is an Alumnae of the DirectWomen Board Institute Program (2019). DirectWomen is an independent organization which identifies, selects, and assists leading women attorneys who are ready to serve as directors on public company boards.
