Lori is a seasoned executive leader at a Fortune 10 company with more than 25 years of experience advising public companies on business strategy, risk management and reputational issues.
From June 2014 to December 2023, Lori served as executive vice president, chief legal officer, and general counsel for McKesson Corporation (NYSE: MCK), a U.S. publicly traded diversified healthcare services company with revenues of $276B in fiscal year 2024 and current market cap of $71B. In this role she led a team of 500+ employees in departments beyond legal, including public affairs, compliance, quality, brand, marketing & communications, and the Corporate Secretary for the company’s Board of Directors.
At McKesson, Lori spearheaded the transformation of the company’s Impact Report, its risk management program and annual risk assessment process, as well as its crisis preparedness plans and protocols for senior executives and the Board. She worked closely with the Board on strategic priorities, governance matters, risk management, ESG, and addressing cybersecurity and shareholder activism, and currently serves as Board and Enterprise Risk Advisor. Under her leadership, the company formalized a pro bono and volunteer program to support communities across the country, as well as an advocacy ambassador program to enhance the dialogue with U.S. Congressional offices on issues of importance to the company.
Career History
Prior to becoming chief legal officer and general counsel of McKesson in 2014, Lori served as associate general counsel of McKesson from January 2012 to June 2014. Previously, she was a litigation partner at Morrison & Foerster, an international law firm, where she represented clients in complex litigation and investigations. Lori served for four years as chair of the firm’s 500-lawyer global litigation department.
Accomplishments
Throughout her career, Lori has led and addressed complex matters in response to and in partnership with government entities. Lori navigated the impact of the national opioid crisis for McKesson, addressing the government-entity and private party litigation landscape, complex and novel legal theories, and the reputational microscope from politicians, shareholders and the public. She helped turn challenges into opportunities and partnerships with carefully directed government entity settlements and the formation of a private foundation, both focused on critical response efforts to address the epidemic. Lori and the teams she lead also helped ensure McKesson’s successful partnership with the U.S. government in its role as the sole distributor selected to deliver COVID-19 vaccines nationwide.
Lori’s leadership accomplishments were recognized in 2022 when she received a Burton Award at the Library of Congress based on her demonstrated track record of addressing complex matters of national or global significance in a specialized area.
Board Service & Education
Lori was recently appointed to serve on the Bayer AG Supervisory Board, responsible for overseeing business strategy and risk management. She previously served on the Supervisory Board of McKesson Europe. She also currently serves on the Boards of the following non-profit organizations: National Center for Youth Law (member of Governance Committee) and the Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts (chair of Governance Committee). Lori received her B.A. from Cornell University, and her J.D. from Yale Law School.
