Tracy M. Preston is a member of the Global Executive Leadership team of HanesBrands, Inc (HBI) which is responsible for the policy and direction of the organization. A seasoned executive, Preston has been extensively involved in the most significant business challenges facing the retail industry including global supply chain strategy, cyber security, crisis management, e-commerce, innovation, vendor management and international expansion.
Preston has extensive experience in organizational restructuring and turnaround and brings a vital micro and macro perspective to risk management creating innovative business strategies to reduce exposure and drive profitability. She has a keen understanding of organizational structures and people management necessary to bridge divergent points of view to move the organization forward in an effective profitable way.
As Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer & Corporate Secretary of HanesBrands, Inc and previously held that role at the Neiman Marcus Group (NMG), Preston leads the organization that provides global legal support for the company’s operations and delivers a wide range of strategic, business, operational and tactical issues to HBI. She has extensive experience managing international acquisitions and divestitures and has managed complex governance, compliance and in a way that restores stakeholder confidence and supports the objectives of the business. While at NMG, she led the Company in its pre-arranged Chapter 11 cases and successfully completed its restructuring of over $5.5 billion of funded indebtedness in under five months. Preston is an innovative senior executive creating strategies that reduce company exposure and provide sound business strategies to effectively manage these risks and develop sustainable, profitable business practices.
Preston is a member of several non-profit boards, including AT&T Performing Arts Center, Dallas Theater Center and the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. Preston has put her experience in creating organizational efficiencies to work for her non-profit boards to lead change in diversity, fundraising and strategic planning.
Preston is a leader in her profession, has been profiled in several magazines and is a sought-after speaker on regulatory, risk management, leadership, diversity and crisis management topics. Under Preston’s leadership, NMG legal department was recognized as one of The Legal 500’s GC Powerlist U.S. Teams and awarded ACC Outstanding GC of a Mid-Sized Legal Department. Dallas Business Journal has recognized Preston as one of its Women in Business Award (2015). Preston was also honored with the Moves Magazine Power Women Award for 2019 and Black Enterprise’s Most Powerful Women in Corporate America.
Preston is a graduate of Georgetown University and received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
