Veronica has almost 20 years of experience in the energy industry with unique insights in global new business development, legal, governance, compliance, and risk management. She has successfully innovated across the value chain from helping to establish multiple operations across the Middle East and Latin America, to unlocking potential in multiple mergers and acquisitions and strategically helping companies through financial and industry downturns. With deep experience in business risk management and regulatory affairs, Veronica quickly understands all aspects of an opportunity, not only identifying project/business risks and value gaps, but also how to close them.

In 2017 she was recognized as one of the top 50 General Counsels in Houston by the National Diversity Council and by the Association of Woman Attorneys Foundation as Houston Premiere Women in Law. She also has been recognized for her work as “General Counsel of the Year – Mid-sized Legal Department” by the Texas General Counsel Forum’s Magna Stella Awards. In 2020 she earned the U.S. Power 50 Award by the National Diversity Council, which honors women that exemplify effective leadership in their industry nationwide.

Veronica serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Precision Drilling Corporation (“Precision”). Precision is a leading North American oil and gas drilling company listed on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges.  It provides onshore drilling and completion and production services globally to exploration and production companies in the oil and natural gas industry. Veronica serves as an integral member of the executive management team and spends most of her time advising the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the executive team.  She is responsible for implementing strategic business growth initiatives, helping build strong board relations, and overseeing all aspects of corporate governance, legal, insurance, enterprise risk management and compliance functions. She also acts as Precision’s Chief Compliance Officer, and as such, she further advises on internal and external regulations, corporate investigations, including anti-corruption laws and SEC regulations.

Prior to joining Precision, Veronica spent over seven years as an attorney with Norton Rose Fulbright, LLP, a global legal practice providing prominent corporations and financial institutions with a full business law service.

Veronica is a native Spanish speaker and is also proficient in French and Portuguese. She has lived in Australia, Spain, Colombia, Canada and France.  Her international background and her experience working with multinational companies give her a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities of conducting business across borders.

Veronica holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and French from Baylor University, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree cum laude from South Texas College of Law. She serves on the boards of various educational and professional institutions, including the Houston Bar Foundation – the charitable arm of the Houston Bar – and Girls Inc. of Greater Houston, where she currently acts as Vice-Chair.
