Sheri Edison is General Counsel of Amcor Plc, a global leader in the development and production of responsible packaging for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical, home and personal care and other products. In June, 2019, Amcor acquired Bemis Company, Inc. and now trades on the New York Stock Exchange and Australian Securities Exchange and is included in both the S&P500 and S&P/ASX 200 indices. At Amcor, Ms. Edison’s responsibilities include corporate governance, and global compliance and legal operations for 250 sites across more than 40 countries.
At Bemis, Ms. Edison served as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary. Her responsibilities included the enterprise project management office, corporate governance, global risk management, compliance and legal operations. While at Bemis, Ms. Edison assumed responsibility for myriad special executive assignments, including oversight for IT, and serving as the executive in charge of the refresh of the Company’s strategic plan.
Ms. Edison came to Bemis Company in 2010 from Hill-Rom, Inc., a global medical device manufacturer and distributor, where she had been Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer since 2007. As Senior Vice President and CAO, she had responsibility for a number of Hill-Rom’s critical business functions, including legal operations, IT, government affairs, regulatory affairs and enterprise risk management. Prior to 2007, Ms. Edison held senior management and general counsel positions at Hill-Rom, Inc., Hillenbrand Industries and LTV Steel. She started her career working in private practice and spent several years as a mergers and acquisitions and securities attorney at Jones Day.
Ms. Edison served on the board of AK Steel (NYSE:AKS) from 2015 to 2020 and chaired the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. She currently serves on the boards of American Family Insurance and the University of Wisconsin Waisman Center. She is a member and Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors, and an alumna of the DirectWomen Board Institute. Ms. Edison was recognized in Black Enterprise’s List of Most Powerful Executives in North America in 2017, and was among Savoy Magazine’s 2017 Most Influential Black Corporate Directors and 2018 Most Influential Black Lawyers. She was also recognized by Directors and Boards Magazine as one of the publication’s 2017 Directors to Watch.
