Cynthia Gibson

Cynthia is the General Counsel of Bush Brothers & Company, a leading CPG manufacturer that is the market leader in its category.  In this role she is responsibility for legal, external affairs, government affairs, sustainability and managing the Bush Family Visitor’s Center and Museum.  Previously, she was the Chief Legal & Business Affairs Officer of Scripps Networks Interactive (NASDAQ: SNI), a fortune 1000 company until its $14.6B sale to Discovery, Inc.  SNI was an omni-channel media company with well-known US brands including HGTV, Food Network and Travel Channel and international brands including UKTV, TVN and Asian Food Channel. 

Cynthia brings to board service a wide range of talents that are critical in today’s business environment.  These include navigating the digital disruption of a traditional business and achieving global and digital growth both organically and through M&A.  Her global experience also includes managing government affairs while confronting potential foreign ownership restrictions.  Her regulatory background includes privacy, cybersecurity, data breach management and ethics and compliance. She also brings deep corporate governance expertise in the areas of shareholder activism, controlled company shareholder relations, executive compensation and internal audit.

Currently, she serves as a member of the board of directors of The Trust Company of Tennessee, a privately-held financial services firm with more than $3B of assets under management. She also serves on an advisory board for SmartBank, a subsidiary of SmartFinancial Inc. (NASDAQ: SMBK).  She previously served on the supervisory board of TVN, S.A. (WIG: TVN), a $2B publicly traded media company acquired by SNI, chairing its Nomination and Remuneration (Compensation) Committee.
